[Reported by Hui-Chang Yu, Washington, D.C., USA] The Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) Washington, D.C. Chapter held its Three Acts of Goodness Children’s Thanksgiving Gathering on November 23, 2025. Through fun and educational activities, the event guided children to learn gratitude, appreciation, and sharing—spreading kindness and joy throughout the community.

The program was fully planned and executed by the BLIA-YAD Washington D.C. Subdivision. The event opened with lively icebreaker games designed to inspire teamwork and help participants quickly connect with one another. This was followed by an arts-and-crafts session where children created Thanksgiving decorations and painted pumpkins. As they worked, they developed artistic skills while experiencing the joy of hands-on creativity. A spirited round of Bingo later brought the atmosphere to its peak, with winners receiving delightful prizes. Every participant left with smiles and enthusiasm.

Parents expressed strong appreciation for the event. Ms. Chen, whose three children attended the gathering, shared that her family wholeheartedly supports such meaningful community activities. She noted that the event not only taught her children about gratitude in a joyful way but also strengthened bonds within the local community.

The gathering concluded with everyone enjoying refreshments together in a warm and cheerful setting. Beyond offering a festive experience for the children, the event also embodied the spirit of Three Acts of Goodness—do good deeds, speak good words, and think good thoughts—advocated by Fo Guang Shan Founding Master Venerable Master Hsing Yun. More than 30 participants, including children, parents, YAD members, and volunteers, enjoyed a fulfilling and memorable afternoon.
